Congratulations to all players who have been selected to represent the Lakeside Lightning at the upcoming 2025 Fuel to Go and Play BWA State Championships. All parents should have received an email with the teams for their child’s age group.
A huge thank you to the number of athletes who participated in the trials. Your effort and dedication were truly impressive. We also want to acknowledge the coaches and assistant coaches for their invaluable support throughout the process.
For those athletes who didn’t make the teams this time, we encourage you to stay engaged and continue honing your skills, as there will be future opportunities to showcase your talent with Lakeside.

The Championships’ dates are:
- 14/15/16 November 2025 – State Titles – All Championship Divisions across all age groups @ Bendat Basketball Centre
- 22/23 November 2025 – U11 Boys & U15 Boys (Divisions 2–5) @ Bendat Basketball Centre & Warwick Stadium
- 29/30 November 2025 – U13 Girls & U17 Boys (Divisions 2–5) @ Bendat Basketball Centre & Warwick Stadium
- 6/7 December 2025 – U13 Boys, U17 Girls, U19 Boys & U20 Girls (Divisions 2–5) @ Bendat Basketball Centre & Warwick Stadium
- 13/14 December 2025 – U11 Girls & U15 Girls (Divisions 2–5) @ Bendat Basketball Centre
As BWA publishes the fixtures for each weekend they will be available on PlayHQ
Note that any player who played for another association in the 2024 State Championships and/or 2025 WABL season, will need to get a clearance from their previous association. Details and the clearance form are available on the WABL website. Note that all clearances must be approved before 7 November 2025.
All players must wear a mouthguard to participate in the Championships.
Registration and uniform information will be sent to athletes via email.
As outlined in our Lakeside Lightning State Champs Parent Information Pack, all athletes in Team 1 and 2 of each age group are guaranteed placement in a Lightning WABL team. We would like to express an extra congratulations to these athletes!
2026 WABL Teams will be announced on or before 20 December 2025.
