Taking an Active Role in our Community

Lakeside Recreation Centre has played an active part in the local community since 1992. Owned and operated by Lakeside Baptist Church, we provide quality facilities and services that foster real connections, develop people, and build relationships.

Over 7,000 people move through Lakeside every week. This includes players, coaches, spectators, gym-goers, the church body, as well as schools and community groups that participate in the various programs we have on offer.

We invite you to become a part of the Lakeside community.

We’re passionate about journeying together, seeing people say “yes” to Jesus, and supporting them as they live that out.
The Lakeside Lightning is our Semi-Professional Basketball team. We have over 20 teams competing in the NBL One West and WABL.
With programs, events, camps, hireable facilities, and community sport comps, the Rec Centre is the social hub of Lakeside.
Lose weight, tone muscle, improve health, build strength, or enhance sport performance — we’re ready to workout with you.

Developing the Whole Person

Part of our missional mandate is to run a great facility, which the community can benefit from and enjoy. Yes, we strive to be Christian in vision, mission, ethos, and practical operation, but the facility is there for the whole community to use and enjoy.

While we endeavour to run an excellent community facility, providing quality services and programs that develop and grow people in all areas of their life – physical, mental, spiritual and social, Lakeside’s heart is a vibrant church that is passionate about seeing people say “yes” to Jesus.

Owned and Operated by Lakeside Baptist Church

On the 26th February 1986, 19 people met with a collective heart to form a church in the Leeming area. In the early years, the church body met in various public buildings, and quickly began to grow. From the beginning, the thread that knit the church together was the deep desire to reach out to the local and global community.

With this passion for outreach, in 1992 the church officially opened Lakeside Recreation Centre — and it’s been a privilege to serve our community ever since.
