Employment Opportunity – Lakeside Lightning General Manager

Appointment of Lakeside Lightning General Manager to Lakeside Baptist Church

We are excited to be seeking a General Manager to lead our Lakeside Lightning basketball ministry and program into the future.

About Lakeside

Lakeside Baptist Church Incorporated (Lakeside), located in North Lake, 20km from the CBD in Perth, Western Australia, is a unique church. It all started in the late 1980’s, as a small church that had a desire to reach the local community through a facility that could be used every day of the week. In February 1992, Lakeside held its first church service on ‘Court One’ and the Recreation Centre was officially launched in March of that year.

Today, Lakeside is a vibrant facility with around 8,000 people each week participating in a variety of programs and sporting competitions. The very nature of Lakeside is that it’s a meeting point, a third place, a hub where people connect and their lives crossover, whether on the basketball court, in the Café, the gym or gathering on a Sunday morning at church. Lakeside is for the whole community to enjoy and benefit from. We strive to be Christian in vision, mission, and practical operation, but the facility is for the whole community to use and enjoy.

The core and driving force of Lakeside, is a vibrant church that is passionate about seeing people say “yes” to Jesus. Lakeside was never just about being a Recreation Centre; there has always been a larger purpose. Lakeside is not a church that meets in a Recreation Centre, rather, we are a church that runs a Recreation Centre and Basketball Program as part of our mission to serve and connect with the community around us.

Our Mission

Lakeside exists to Encourage, Equip, and Empower people to say “yes” to Jesus.

Our Vision

To be a Regional Christian Community Centre with an igniting passion for God and His kingdom throughout our community and beyond by reflecting the life-changing message of Christ in all that we do.

About the Role

Reporting to and working in partnership with the Lead Pastor, the role of Lakeside Lightning General Manager (GM) exists to help see the vision of Lakeside become a reality. This role has complete oversight and responsibility for all aspects of the Lightning Program, including NBL1, WABL and Basketball Development. Leadership and Collaboration are vital to this role as the Lightning Ministry itself will only achieve its objectives when it is fully integrated with the other ministry areas of Lakeside. Specifically, this will involve working with the Rec Centre Manager, but also other staff, coaches and volunteers.

Currently the scope of the Lakeside Lightning includes a thriving junior program, with 34 teams competing in the WA Basketball League (WABL). It also includes Men’s and Women’s Teams in the NBL1 West competition – the premier basketball competition in WA. In addition to these two programs, the Lakeside Lightning contributes to and makes possible the basketball development pathway that exists at Lakeside. This pathway takes our youngest players from Aussie Hoops all the way through to our NBL 1 teams. As the GM, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of the Lakeside Lightning Program and ensuring that Lakeside continues to be a well-respected part of the Basketball WA Community.

The role is Full-Time (5 Days per week). The role will require work outside of regular business hours.
